ABOUT US
About the Staff The department are involved in the teaching of instructional courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level, as well as in personal research and in the supervision of students undertaking higher degrees. Another major activity is the provision of award-bearing and short courses designed to meet the continuing professional development needs of qualified teachers and other professionals. Many of these courses are described as ‘post-initial’ because people take them after they have completed their initial professional training, and many are at postgraduate or higher degree level. The essential features of the Faculty’s services are that they are flexible and designed to meet the needs of employers and individuals while at the same time maintaining high standards of quality. New Education for a new world Workplace learning is an integral component of the postgraduate framework. It is a way of structuring learning that provides support for individuals and their organisation to play a significant role in directing their own learning within their own working environment. It has an important role to play in supporting and encouraging continuing professional development both personally and institutionally. Debbie Young Walker - Dean of Faculty of Education
